Australian Artist Finds Inspiration from the Sea

Sarah Thomas is an Australian contemporary figurative artist living and working by the sea in the beautiful warm climate coastal town of Noosa in Queensland, Australia.

Noosa is a well known tourist destination as it is blessed with iconic surf beaches dotted around its magnificent national park.

Sarah has been painting her coastal-themed artworks now for 15 years. Swimmers, surfers and families at the beach prevail.

As her family has been involved with the local Sunshine beach Surf Lifesaving Club her subjects also often include lifeguards in action.

She likes to promote the “swim between the flags” message at any opportunity and is often asked to paint lifeguards and junior “nippers” in local club colours or the famous red and yellow caps for beach houses and surfclubs from Noosa to Bondi and beyond.

Her 800 plus original artworks are large, feel-good canvases portraying people enjoying life and they adorn the walls of homes, cafes, restaurants and hotels around the world.

Sarah is represented by a handful of galleries in Australia and she has in the past exhibited across Australia and internationally, however most of her time these days is spent on private commissions and she loves working directly with clients to create something special for their art space.

Whether communicating with a local client or someone overseas, email provides the opportunity to discuss customers’ wishes, send preliminary sketches followed by regular pictures of a painting’s progress.

Sarah’s aim is to provide a unique piece that the client is absolutely happy with. Unlike many artists she welcomes feedback along the way and if the client has any concerns at all, the painting can be tweaked until it is right.
