4 Fundraising Ideas for Aquatic Facilities
4 Ideas for Fundraising for Aquatic Facilities
Between spring break and the upcoming summer season, aquatic facilities have a lot on their plates — and a lot on the horizon. The new season signals a time for new opportunities. Whether you’re looking to revamp your facility, add new equipment, staff up, or build a bigger community, you’ll need the budget and resources to do so. One way to bolster the budget? Fundraise. Read on for 4 ideas.
1. Host a swim-a-thon
The biggest advantage you have, as an aquatic facility manager, is your pool and your space. Swimmers are eager to compete and train — so give them an opportunity to do so with a Spring Swim-a-thon. You can charge a flat fee per head for entry and a small fee for spectators. Bonus: You may attract new regular swimmers if they love your facility. Win-win!
2. Run an auction
This one will require donations, but it can be a productive and fun way to raise money for your facility. Gather your staff, friends, and family to pool together knick-knacks, bottles of wine, artwork, and more. Anything you’ve got that might sell — add it in. Set a date and spread the news of your auction, and let the bidding begin.
3. Host a barbecue
There’s one thing people love in the heat: a poolside barbecue. Open your facility for a weekend barbecue by the pool. You can work with a local barbecue joint to provide you with a discount for ordering in bulk. Then, you can charge per entry to quickly make up the difference — and then some
4. Open the pool for discounted entries
Put a few dates on the calendar to open the pool to the public for a discounted rate. You’ll reach a new crowd — those who may not have the budget for a monthly or yearly membership but still want to attend a pool every now and then. Just be sure to give a heads-up to your members that you’ll have a few public pool days and staff up on extra lifeguards.
Ready to fundraise? With a little bit of planning and a team to make it happen, you can fundraise for your aquatic facility in no time. Have fun and good luck!
